Abstract

Pola penggunaan portal berita dalam kalangan remaja di Sabah merupakan sesuatu yang menarik untuk dikaji khususnya melihat rentak penggunaan portal berita yang semakin berkembang. Kajian ini mempersembahkan pola kegunaan dan kepuasan portal berita dengan menggunakan kumpulan fokus terhadap remaja yang terdiri dari etnik KadazanDusun, Bajau, Murut, Melayu dan Cina berpandukan teori kegunaan dan kepuasan (U&G). Hasil dapatan kajian mendapati keperluan kognitif dan keperluan penyepaduan diri merupakan keperluan utama yang mendorong remaja menggunakan portal berita. Responden yang terdiri daripada remaja Sabah paling banyak menggunakan portal berita bagi tujuan pencarian maklumat dan pembelajaran. Jenis kepuasan yang paling tinggi diperoleh oleh mereka ialah ciri interaktif dan sifat mudah dibawa yang ada pada portal berita itu sendiri.
